Orange County Habitat

What is Build a Block

The UNC Build a Block project is a student-led initiative to build 10 Habitat for Humanity houses for university and UNC hospital employees and their families during the 2010-2011 academic school year.

When Habitat for Humanity of Orange County approached the UNC student chapter of Habitat with the news that a record number of university and UNC hospital employees had applied for Habitat housing, a vision was born.

With the generous support and encouragement of student groups, administration, alumni, athletics, faculty and staff, and UNC Hospitals, UNC-Chapel Hill will unite in this project by raising the necessary funds and providing volunteers to build 10 houses over 10 months. With great Tar Heel pride, we ask that you help continue Carolina’s strong legacy of service, and join us in this community-wide effort.
