The Commitment Continues
It was great to see everyone on the site Saturday. Even after the Thanksgiving and in the midst of studying for finals, we had a great turnout of 20 volunteers for the Friday afternoon and 36 volunteers for both AM and PM shifts on Saturday, in addition to the KFBS.partnership. The morning frost delayed roof work, so we made a lot of progress painting indoors instead. In the afternoon we continued painting in addition to outside work, working multiple crews inside and out on many houses. We jumped on roofs and siding work in the afternoon. As the snow flurries began we had to come off the roofs for safety’s sake, and still many of you were willing to work outside, so we made some progress on siding. The snow eventually forced us to pack up early, but not before getting some work done. Thank you so much for our diehard cleanup crews, volunteering to pick up in the snow and wash out brushes with cold water to allow many others to get home before the roads got any worse.
Our Fall Build Season for Build a Block comes to a close with no less energy than when we started. I’ve seen many new students become familiar faces as they show week after week. Special thanks to Silvan and Grace, just a few of those many repeat volunteers, coming nearly every week this season. I look forward to seeing you all again in the new year, as we kick off the Spring Build with a framing blitz.
Good luck on finals, and have a great Christmas break. See you soon.
Thank you for all you do.
